IEPF Portal Login: MCA V3 and IEPFA Links to Check and Claim
Looking for the IEPF login page? There are two different government portals and most people start on the wrong one. The one that matters is MCA V3 — that is where Form IEPF-5 is filed and where your claim actually happens. The IEPFA portal is a search tool you use beforehand to confirm what you are claiming.
Official government portals only
1. MCA V3 Portal — file your claim here
This is the portal you need. Form IEPF-5, the refund claim itself, is filed nowhere else.
mca.gov.in → MCA Services → Investor Services → Form IEPF-5
2. IEPFA Search Portal — check what you have
Search here first to confirm the company, folio and amounts before you file.
iepfa.gov.in/login
3. IEPF Refund Instructions — the official rules
Procedure, document checklist and nodal officer requirements.
iepf.gov.in
Only mca.gov.in, iepfa.gov.in and iepf.gov.in are official. Anything else asking for your PAN, OTP or a fee to “release” your refund is not a government site.
Outside India? The IEPFA search portal frequently will not load on an overseas connection. Skip to the NRI section for what to do instead.
Which IEPF Login Do You Actually Need?
Filing and searching happen in two different places, and confusing them is the most common reason people stall.
| You want to | Use this portal | What happens there |
|---|---|---|
| File the refund claim | MCA V3 — mca.gov.in | Open Form IEPF-5, submit, receive an SRN, then dispatch physical documents |
| Check if your shares or dividends are with IEPF | IEPFA Search — iepfa.gov.in | Register or log in as an Applicant, then search by PAN, name, or company and folio |
| Read the official procedure | IEPF — iepf.gov.in | Refund steps, forms, document checklist and nodal officer rules |
What the IEPF Actually Holds
Most people arrive looking for shares, but the Fund holds more than that. If any of the following went unclaimed for seven years, it will have been transferred to the IEPF and can be claimed back through the same Form IEPF-5:
- Equity shares where the dividend went unclaimed for seven consecutive years.
- Unpaid and unclaimed dividends themselves.
- Matured fixed deposits and matured debentures with companies, along with the interest on them.
- Share application money that was due for refund and never collected.
- Sale proceeds of fractional shares arising from mergers, bonus issues or splits.
Before You File: Confirm the Details on IEPFA
Form IEPF-5 asks for exact figures, so it helps to confirm them first. Open iepfa.gov.in/login, choose For New User and register as an Applicant with your name as per PAN, date of birth, PAN, email and mobile. Both email and mobile are verified by OTP. If you are already registered, enter your email or mobile, request an OTP and log in — the portal uses OTP rather than a password.
Search by PAN, by personal details, or by company name and folio number, and record what comes back: company name, CIN, folio or DP and Client ID, share count and dividend amounts. You will need all of it at the filing stage.
This step is useful rather than mandatory. If you already hold an entitlement letter from the company or its RTA, that document carries the same details and you can go straight to filing. And if the search returns nothing, it does not always mean there is nothing there — old records carry old spellings, initials and maiden names that exact-match searches miss. Our guide to searching IEPF unclaimed shares covers the other places to look.
MCA V3 Login and Form IEPF-5: The Actual Claim
This is the part that counts. Whatever you found on the IEPFA portal, nothing is claimed until Form IEPF-5 is filed on MCA V3.
Go to mca.gov.in and sign in, or register if you do not have an account. Your registered email address is your username — there is no separate user ID to remember, which is the answer to most “iepf login id” searches. Use Forgot Password if you cannot get in.
Then navigate to MCA Services → Investor Services → Form IEPF-5. Since the October 2025 amendment the form has been substituted with a revised web form, so make sure you are on the current version. Because it is a web form, you can save a draft and return to it.
Fill in claimant details exactly as per PAN, the company name and CIN, your folio number or DP and Client ID, share and dividend particulars, an Indian bank account for any cash refund, and demat account details for the shares. Attach the entitlement letter, and an authority letter if someone is filing on your behalf.
Complete OTP verification, submit, and save the SRN you receive. Every stage after this is tracked against it.
After You Submit: Documents Still Go by Post
Filing online is only half of it. The claim does not move until the physical set arrives.
- Download and print Form IEPF-5, the acknowledgement, and the auto-generated indemnity bond.
- Execute the bond on the correct stamp paper for your state, sign it, have it witnessed and notarised. See our guide to the indemnity bond for IEPF Form 5 for the state-wise values.
- Send the complete set to the company’s Nodal Officer (IEPF) at its registered office, with the SRN marked on the envelope.
- Upload the postal or courier receipt back on the portal. Skip this and the claim simply sits there.
How to Find the Company’s Nodal Officer
This trips people up right at the dispatch stage, because the address has to be current. Every company that has transferred amounts to the IEPF must appoint a Nodal Officer — a director, company secretary or CFO — and publish those details. Look in three places:
- The company’s website, in investor relations or shareholder services, usually alongside its IEPF lists.
- The MCA portal, in the company’s IEPF filings, where nodal officer details are reported.
- The company’s RTA — KFin Technologies, Link Intime or CAMS — who will confirm the current officer and address.
Confirm before you post. Nodal officers change, registered offices move, and documents sent to a stale address are simply lost time.
Tracking Your Claim After Filing
Your SRN is how you follow the claim, so keep it somewhere you will not lose it. Sign in to MCA V3 and use the SRN enquiry facility to see where the filing stands. On the IEPF portal, the “Pending for Action” area is where you upload the postal receipt and where the claim sits until that is done.
A claim moves through these stages: submitted and SRN generated, postal receipt uploaded, under company verification, e-verification report filed, IEPF Authority processing, and finally approved with the refund credited. If it appears stuck at company verification, contact the nodal officer directly rather than wait — that stage is in the company’s hands, not the Authority’s.
The company must send its online verification report to the Authority within thirty days of receiving your claim, with a late fee payable beyond that. If the Authority comes back asking you for further documents, you have fifteen days to supply them. After a positive report, dividends are credited to your bank account and shares to your demat account — though the Authority is working through a significant backlog, so plan in months rather than weeks.
Login Problems and How to Fix Them
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The portal will not open at all from overseas | Common with the IEPFA search portal, and not something you can fix from your end. See the NRI section below — you can have the search run for you from India instead. |
| I don’t know my IEPF login ID | On MCA V3 your username is the email you registered with. Use Forgot Password to reset. IEPFA uses OTP, so there is no password at all. |
| OTP not arriving | Check spam, confirm the mobile and email on the account are still active, and retry after a few minutes rather than repeatedly. |
| Search returns no results | Try name variants and initials, or search by company and folio instead of PAN. Then ask the company’s RTA for an entitlement letter. |
| Form IEPF-5 won’t submit | Usually a name and PAN mismatch, an invalid CIN, folio or DP-Client ID, or a missing entitlement letter. Check each against your records. |
| Do I need a DSC? | Individual claimants can generally use Aadhaar e-sign or OTP. A DSC is more typically needed for company and nodal officer actions. |
| I’m not comfortable filing online | A Common Service Centre (CSC) can assist with filing. The submission still goes through MCA’s Form IEPF-5. |
Why Is IEPF Not Working?
Most reports of the IEPF portal “not working” are not an outage at all — they are one of four specific things, and three of them you can fix yourself in a minute.
You are signing in to a retired portal. MCA moved its filings to the V3 portal, and a user ID created on the old V2 system does not sign you in to V3. If your login is being rejected outright rather than asking for an OTP, this is the likeliest reason. Go to mca.gov.in, choose Sign In / Sign Up, and register or sign in on V3. There is no separate “IEPF login” system to find — the IEPF forms sit inside MCA’s own portal.
You logged in successfully but there is no claim form. Then you are on IEPFA, and you will not find one there — the search portal has no filing function, so nothing you do on it submits a claim.
The site will not load at all. If iepfa.gov.in times out rather than returning an error and you are outside India, that is the known overseas access problem covered in the NRI section below, not something wrong at your end.
You are trying to reach a helpline or an email that no longer exists. This is the one almost nobody warns you about, because the details still circulating on the internet are out of date. Both IEPFA’s phone number and its grievance email have changed, and the old ones still rank on Google. The two sections below give the current ones.
How Do I Register for IEPF Login?
You register twice, on two separate portals, and neither registration signs you in to the other — which is why so many people believe their account has stopped working when it never existed on that site in the first place.
The IEPFA side is covered above, under Before You File. The one thing to add is that you never set a password there at all, so if you are hunting for one, stop looking — that portal signs you in by OTP every time.
On MCA V3, choose the right kind of account. At the Sign In / Sign Up screen, register as a Registered User. Do not pick Business User: that path is built for directors, practising professionals, nodal officers and banks, and it will ask you for a DIN or DPIN. An individual claimant does not have one, and this is a common dead end — people conclude the portal is broken when they have simply been put down the wrong registration route.
Your MCA V3 username is the email address you registered with. If you cannot remember which email you used — common when the account was created years ago by a relative or a consultant — the sign-in page carries a Forgot User ID option alongside Forgot Password, and it will retrieve it for you.
What Is the IEPF Help Desk Number?
The IEPFA toll-free helpline is 14453, open Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a multi-language interactive voice response system behind it.
Current IEPFA contact routes
Helpline — 14453
Toll-free, Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Multi-language IVRS.
Complaints — raise a ticket, not an email
iepf.gov.in → Services → Raise Ticket → Create Service Related Complaints
Search facility problems only — [email protected]
The one email address IEPFA still publishes, and only for issues with the search tool itself.
The old number, 1800 114 667, has been discontinued. IEPFA replaced it when it upgraded its call centre and IVRS, and said so explicitly in the announcement. This matters more than it sounds: the retired number is still published by third-party “customer care” directories, and one of them was still sitting on the first page of Google results for IEPF helpline number when we checked on 21 August 2026. If you have called a number and got nowhere, you may simply have called the wrong one.
One safety note follows from having a real number: contact runs in one direction only. You call IEPFA. IEPFA does not telephone you to ask for an OTP, a password or a payment to release a refund, and anyone who does is not from the Authority.
What Is the Email Address for Submitting an IEPF-5 Complaint?
There is no longer one — IEPFA discontinued email for grievances and now requires complaints to be raised as a ticket on the portal: go to iepf.gov.in, open Services, choose Raise Ticket, then select Create Service Related Complaints. The Authority has repeated the same instruction across its own channels in the same words: email ticketing has been discontinued. The grievance email IDs that used to be published were withdrawn in a 2024 update.
This is worth knowing because the old addresses have not disappeared from the internet. They are still quoted in blog posts, in forum threads and on company investor pages, and mail sent to them does not bounce loudly enough for most people to notice. If you have written to a generic IEPF address and heard nothing back for weeks, that is very likely why. Nothing was lost in a queue; there is no longer a queue.
One address does survive, and it is narrower than people assume. IEPFA still publishes [email protected] for problems with, and feedback on, the search facility itself. It is not a claims address and not a grievance address — sending a claim query there will not put it in front of anyone who can act on it.
How Do I Follow Up on an IEPF Claim?
Follow up with whoever is holding your claim at that moment, which for most of its life is the company rather than the Authority.
- Before your documents are dispatched — it is with you. Nothing moves until the physical set reaches the nodal officer and the postal receipt is uploaded.
- At company verification — it is with the company’s Nodal Officer (IEPF), who has thirty days to file the e-verification report. Chase the nodal officer directly; the Authority cannot move this stage along for you.
- After the e-verification report is filed — it is with the IEPF Authority. This is the point at which raising a ticket, or calling 14453 with your SRN to hand, is the right move.
Quote the SRN every time, in every channel — it is the only reference that identifies your claim, and a follow-up without it usually produces a request to write back with it. If your claim has come back to you rather than stalled, our guide to what to do when an IEPF claim is rejected covers the reasons that recur and how to respond to each.
NRIs: You May Not Even Be Able to Open the Portal
Start with the problem nobody warns you about: the IEPFA search portal frequently will not load from outside India at all. Not slow — it simply times out, however many times you retry, while the same link opens normally for someone sitting in India. It is not your browser and not your internet connection.
That matters because the search is where most people begin. If it will not open, the natural first step is closed to you, and many assume nothing can be done and stop there.
It is worth knowing that this does not block the claim itself. Form IEPF-5 is filed on MCA V3, not on IEPFA, and if you hold an entitlement letter from the company or its RTA you already have every detail the form asks for. The search is a convenience, not a gate.
The rest of the process still assumes a claimant with a working Indian mobile number, an Indian address, Indian bank and demat accounts, and the ability to walk documents to a notary and a post office. Living abroad, most of those assumptions break — and they break in sequence, so you tend to discover each one only after clearing the last.
The OTP goes to an Indian mobile. Both portals log you in by one-time password to your registered number. If that Indian number lapsed years ago — and it usually has — you cannot get past the login screen at all.
Aadhaar e-sign may not be open to you, which changes how you complete verification on the form.
The money needs Indian accounts. Dividends credit to an Indian bank account and shares to an Indian demat account. An NRE or NRO account and an NRI demat account have to exist and be entered exactly right, because a mismatch fails the credit at the final step — after months of waiting.
Documents signed abroad need consular attestation or an apostille. The indemnity bond and any affidavits executed outside India follow additional rules, and this is the single most common reason NRI claims are returned. Getting it wrong means another round trip of physical papers across continents.
Originals still have to physically reach a nodal officer in India, at an address that must be current, with the postal receipt uploaded afterwards.
And if the original shareholder has died, all of that sits on top of a transmission claim, with succession documentation that has to satisfy both the company and the Authority.
None of it is impossible. It is simply slow, sequential and unforgiving from the other side of the world, which is why so many NRI claims are started and then quietly abandoned — not because the money was not there, but because the process outlasted the claimant’s patience.
You Do Not Need Portal Access to Start
If the portal will not open for you, you can simply have the search run from India instead. Send us the shareholder’s name and whatever else you have — the company, an old folio number, a former address, a share certificate photographed on your phone — and we will check IEPF, RTA and depository records on your behalf and tell you what is there. No login, no OTP, no Indian mobile number required at your end.
If there is something to claim, our NRI share recovery service handles the India side throughout: obtaining the entitlement letter, preparing the bond and affidavits in a form that will survive attestation, filing the claim, liaising with the company’s nodal officer, dispatching and tracking the physical set, and following it through to credit. You deal with one point of contact who works Indian hours, rather than a government portal that will not open for you at three in the morning.
Send us the shareholder’s details and we will run the search for you.
Avoiding Fake IEPF Sites
Unclaimed money attracts fraud, and lookalike portals are common. A few rules that will keep you safe:
- Only mca.gov.in, iepfa.gov.in and iepf.gov.in are official. Check the domain before entering anything.
- The government charges no fee to file Form IEPF-5. Nobody can charge you to “release”, “unlock” or “expedite” a refund, because that is not how the process works.
- Never share an OTP or password with anyone, including someone claiming to call from the IEPF Authority. Officials do not ask for these.
- Physical documents go to the company’s nodal officer at its registered office — never to a personal address given over the phone.
To be clear about where a firm like ours fits: engaging a professional to prepare and manage your claim is an ordinary, optional service, and it is a different thing entirely from someone demanding payment to make a government refund appear. The filing itself is free; what you would be paying for is the work and the responsibility for getting it right.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which IEPF portal do I actually file my claim on?
MCA V3, at mca.gov.in. Go to MCA Services, then Investor Services, then Form IEPF-5. The IEPFA portal at iepfa.gov.in only lets you search for unclaimed shares and dividends — no claim is filed there.
Why won’t the IEPF portal open from outside India?
The IEPFA search portal frequently fails to load on an overseas connection, timing out rather than returning an error. It is not your browser or your connection, and retrying rarely helps. It does not block the claim itself, since filing happens on MCA V3, but it does mean you may need someone in India to run the search for you.
What is my IEPF login ID?
On the MCA V3 portal your username is the email address you registered with. The IEPFA search portal logs you in by OTP to your registered email or mobile, so there is no password to remember.
How do I check my IEPF claim status?
Use the SRN generated when you submitted Form IEPF-5. Sign in to MCA V3 and use the SRN enquiry facility to see where the filing stands. If it is sitting at company verification, contact the company’s nodal officer directly, since that stage is in their hands.
Do I need a DSC to file Form IEPF-5?
Not usually. Individual claimants can generally complete verification with Aadhaar e-sign or OTP. A digital signature certificate is more commonly required for company and nodal officer filings.
Can I file an IEPF claim from outside India?
Yes, though it is harder than it looks. The filing itself is online on MCA V3, but the IEPFA search portal often will not open from overseas, OTPs go to an Indian mobile that may have lapsed, documents signed abroad need consular attestation or an apostille, and the refund requires Indian bank and demat accounts.
How long does the company take to verify my claim?
Under the IEPF Rules the company must send its online verification report to the Authority within thirty days of receiving your claim, and pays a late fee beyond that. If the Authority asks you for additional documents, you have fifteen days to provide them.
Where do I send the physical documents after filing online?
To the Nodal Officer (IEPF) of the company at its registered office, quoting your SRN on the envelope. Then upload the postal receipt on the portal.
Can I claim matured deposits and debentures through the IEPF portal?
Yes. The Fund holds matured fixed deposits, matured debentures, share application money due for refund and fractional share proceeds, as well as shares and dividends. All are claimed through the same Form IEPF-5.
What is an IEPFA camp?
IEPFA runs investor awareness camps and outreach drives around the country. They are educational events, not the filing portal — claims are still filed online through MCA.
Is there a password for the IEPF portal login?
It depends which portal. The IEPFA search portal at iepfa.gov.in has no password at all — it signs you in by OTP to your registered email or mobile every time. MCA V3 does use a password alongside your registered email, and its sign-in page carries both Forgot Password and Forgot User ID if you are locked out.
Is there an official IEPF app?
No app is part of the process. Both the search and the claim run entirely through the two government websites, and there is no step at which you are asked to install anything. Treat any app that asks for your PAN, your OTP or a fee to check unclaimed shares as unofficial, whatever it is called.
My MCA V2 login does not work. What changed?
MCA moved its filings to the V3 portal, and credentials created on the older V2 system do not sign you in to V3. Go to mca.gov.in, choose Sign In / Sign Up, and register or sign in as a V3 Registered User. Choose Registered User rather than Business User — the Business User route asks for a DIN or DPIN that an individual claimant will not have.
Is 1800 114 667 still the IEPF helpline number?
No. That number has been discontinued. The current IEPFA toll-free helpline is 14453, open Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. The old number is still published by third-party customer-care directories that rank well on Google, which is why it keeps being called.
How do I raise a complaint with the IEPF Authority?
Through a ticket on the portal, not by email. Go to iepf.gov.in, open Services, choose Raise Ticket, then Create Service Related Complaints. IEPFA discontinued its grievance email service, so mail sent to the older published addresses will not reach anyone who can act on it.
How Does Shares Recover Help?
Most people in India can log in and run the search themselves. Where it gets difficult is everything after: obtaining the entitlement letter from the company or its RTA, matching decades-old records to current identity documents, executing the indemnity bond on the right stamp paper, and keeping a nodal officer moving. And if you are overseas, it often gets difficult before that, at the login screen.
Shares Recover manages the whole claim on your behalf. We trace the holding across IEPF, RTA and depository records, prepare and vet every document, file the claim, and deal with the company, its RTA and the IEPF Authority until the shares are recovered. Our IEPF claim assistance costs you nothing upfront — there is no token fee and no charge to start. We are paid only on success, once the shares are actually back with you.
If you are not sure whether there is anything to claim, request a free check of your shares and we will tell you what we find.
IEPFA Integrated Portal: What the Different Portal Names Actually Mean
People searching for the IEPF portal use half a dozen different names for it, and the names do not map cleanly onto separate websites. There is one Authority site and one filing site, with several service pages sitting inside them. Here is what each term refers to.
| What people search for | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| IEPFA Integrated Portal | The Authority’s own website at iepfa.gov.in. This is the umbrella site that carries the search facility, the claim and refund routes, and the forms. |
| IEPFA search portal | The New Search Facility inside the Integrated Portal. It searches the database the IEPF Authority maintains from companies’ own filings, and needs login and registration. The Authority currently describes it as a beta release. |
| IEPFA claim portal / IEPFA refund portal | The Claim Refund route. Both names point at the same thing: the path from a traced holding to a filed Form IEPF-5. |
| MCA IEPFA services | The Authority’s service pages — Search Unclaimed/Unpaid Amount, Claim Refund, Forms, and Upload E-Form. The e-form upload itself happens on the MCA portal, not on the Authority site. |
The IEPFA was established on 7 September 2016 under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which is why its records live on a separate site from the MCA V3 portal where you actually file. That split is the single biggest source of confusion: the Authority site is where you look, and the MCA portal is where you file. Neither one alone completes a claim.
Two limitations are worth knowing before you rely on a search result. The search runs on what companies have filed, so a holding recorded under a maiden name, an initial, or a long-superseded address may not surface even though it exists and is yours. And a result is only a record — the shares move only after Form IEPF-5 is filed and the physical document set, including the indemnity bond for IEPF Form 5, reaches the company’s Nodal Officer.
If you would rather skip the portals entirely, you can have us search for your shares across the IEPF records, the RTAs and the depositories at no cost.

Holding old share certificates? Confirm exactly where they stand.
Send us the names and folio numbers on your certificates. We will confirm whether the shares are still in your name, whether they have moved to the IEPF, and what they are worth today.
Zero advance — you pay only once the shares are credited to your demat account.
